Meeting Social Vignerons at Alta Alella

Social media in the wine world has some very interesting, intelligent, and just plain cool people. In the last two years since diving into wine culture via social media, I’ve had the opportunity to interact with some amazing people from Denise Medrano, Mike Turner of Please Bring Me My Wine, Paul & Benedicte of Lazenne, Conrad from Winewankers, plus a whole host of locals active in social media – Zoltan Csaba Nagy, Sinisa Curovic, Ruth Troyano to name three of the many.

So when Julien Miquel, known as @jmiquelwine in the social media world shared with me he had recently moved back to Roussillon (just on the other side of the Catalan border with France, in France), I was pretty excited. Then to find out he was visiting Alta Alella after interacting with Laura Bret, export manager of Alta Alella, I was even more excited since it’s pretty much in my backyard.

So just who is Julien Miquel? He was involved in making some of the finest wines in the world in France, Tuscany, Spain, Sonoma County, Australia and New Zealand.  In 2009, he decided to make his expertise more widely known by joining top wine website wine-searcher.com.

For 5 years, he led a group of international wine experts sharing the gospel of wine through the website, producing and developing the online content. It is the undisputed top website for wine, as the most visited, by far.

At the end of 2014, Julien decided to produce his own website, and created socialvignerons.com, where today he provides quality content from visits, wine reviews, and more. His work was validated by wineblogawards.org, who named socialvignerons.com the best new wine blog in 2015.

Enjoy the brief interview above and listen to Julien’s feedback on his visit to Alta Alella, and what’s up in 2016 for him and socialvignerons.com!

We’ll be looking forward to meeting him more during this year and sharing with him the gospel of good Catalunya Wine!
